Competitors are expected to come from Britain, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Germany, France and Austria.
Cllr. Roger Latchford, Cabinet Member for Culture and Economy, said: “Following the huge success of Margate’s Big Event, this looks set to be another major draw for both visitors and residents. We’re delighted to be welcoming this new event to the town and seeing the new European champions being crowned here in Ramsgate. This is set to be a superb spectator event for people to enjoy over the course of a week.”
Tony Williams, the British Water Ski Chairman of Racing and GB Team Captain, said: “We are all greatly indebted to Thanet District Council for their financial and practical input towards hosting the European Championships. The Ramsgate venue is excellent, providing super viewing and accommodation facilities. The Harbourmaster and his team have worked tirelessly in conjunction with British Water Ski and have consulted us every step of the way in order to present a memorable event. I look forward to the first week of July with great anticipation.”
