Editing and amending your information

How to edit & amend your site

You can create either a basic or an advanced web page in our directory. Both are completely free of charge and you can change between the two options at any time.

What's a Basic Entry ?

Choose this if you just want to be listed on our website and do not plan on adding alot of news, events and vacancies. With it:

Your organisation has a web page profile including a description and contact details for your organisation.
The branding of the basic profile page is not customisable
You can add News, Events and Vacancies that will appear on the Community portal homepage, but they will not appear on your own profile page

What's an Advanced Entry ?

Choose this if you wish to add alot of news, events or vacancies, or you wish to brand your site.

The Advanced option does everything that the basic one does but additionally you can:

show News, Events and Vacancies on your organisation profile by choosing which pages you wish to have shown on your organisation profile as well as on the Community portal homepage
upload your logo onto your profile and customise the menu and background colours to suit your branding

Choose the Basic or Advanced entry by ticking the button next to the Basic or Advanced option.

How do I change my homepage colours ?

You can change the colour of your pages by clicking on change Brand colour and selecting your colours. Remember to choose colours that contrast each other so that your page is easy to read.

How do I edit my homepage

Decide which areas of information you want to appear. You can add the following pages to your homepage:

About Us page
Latest News page
Forthcoming Events page
Vacancies page
Contact Us page

To add one of these pages to your site, just tick the box next to the page you want and once approved it will appear as a link in the menu on the left hand side of the page..

To add or amend the information on these pages, simply click on the notebook icon next to each heading and complete the form that appears. Click Save when you are happy with your entry.

When you add a news item, event or vacancy to a Basic directory entry, they will only appear on the community portal homepage and relevant search. When you add them to an advanced entry they appear on your homepage too.

How to save and submit my changes

When you make any changes to your web pages, you must click the Save button at the top of the page, and the Update button at the bottom.

If you do not do this, you may lose the changes you have made.

Once you click on the Update button the page is submitted to Thanet District Council Web Communications team for moderation. Your changes will only appear on the Community portal once they have approved them to go live.
